Recognition and Acceptance of the School's Catholic Ethos and Religious Character

Saint Joseph's Catholic Infant School is a Catholic school within the Diocese of Westminster. The school was established by the Catholic Church to support parents in their responsibility as the first and primary educators of their children in the faith and in all aspects of their development.

The School exists to provide an education rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the traditions of the Catholic Church. Our Catholic faith underpins every aspect of school life and shapes our relationships, curriculum, prayer life, worship, and service to others.

As a Catholic school, we seek to place Christ at the centre of all that we do. We aim to nurture the spiritual, moral, intellectual, emotional and physical development of every child, recognising that each person is uniquely created in the image and likeness of God and is deserving of dignity, respect and care.

Religious Education is a core subject within the curriculum and is central to the life and mission of the school. Through Religious Education, prayer, liturgy, charitable outreach and daily interactions, children are encouraged to grow in their knowledge and love of God, develop Gospel values, and become active members of their communities.

The School welcomes families from all backgrounds who are willing to support and respect its Catholic mission and values. We are committed to fostering a community characterised by faith, hope, love, mutual respect and service, while promoting understanding and respect for people of all faiths and none.

The Diocese of Westminster teaches that Catholic schools exist to support Catholic parents in the academic, spiritual, moral and religious education of their children and to place the person of Jesus Christ at the heart of the educational enterprise. Catholic schools seek to promote faith formation, academic excellence, character development, service to others and a commitment to the common good.

Partnership between home, school and parish is fundamental to Catholic education. Parents, carers, governors and staff work together to ensure that every child flourishes and is supported to achieve their full potential.

By accepting a place at Saint Joseph's Catholic Infant School, parents and carers acknowledge the Catholic nature of the school and agree to support and respect its ethos, values, policies, Religious Education programme, prayer life and acts of worship.

Parent/Carer Declaration

I/We have read and understood the statement above and recognise the Catholic ethos and religious character of Saint Joseph's Catholic Infant School. I/We agree to support the school's mission and values throughout my/our child's time at the school.
